Unknown Bird - Gary or Halloween Bird? (by Lee Dusing)

Gary Bird?
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. (Col 3:17
Last Friday evening (Halloween) our church, Faith Baptist Church, had a Fall Festival. They had "Trunk or Treat" for the kids to get goodies from. We went to see the activities and being a true birdwatcher, always on the lookout for birds, I came across an unknown bird. So, we got its picture. Now it could be a Gary Bird or a Halloween Bird, I am not sure. After looking through my many bird books at home, I could not find one like it. If anyone knows, please leave a comment.

Halloween Bird?It really was a great evening. We had other activities besides the trunks. One of our pastors, Pastor Pete, managed to get himself dunked many times.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (1Co 10:31)
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; (Col 3:23)

All Hallows Eve (by Peter Brock)

Today, October 31 is the calendar day dedicated to Halloween. I find it interesting to observe Christians and their response to this "holiday". Some take a position of avoiding the day and refuse to participate at any level. Some opt for alternate events such as a fall-fest or similar event. Others seem to embrace it and don't appear to be threatened by the day and it's practices.
As believers in Jesus Christ, how are we to respond to Halloween? Do we avoid it or embrace it? Or do we find a middle ground?
Grace to You has written a great article that traces the origins of Halloween, its practices and where it has arrived in today's culture. The article also addresses Biblical and practical responses for the believer. I challenge you to read the article and gain some sound Biblical teaching regarding a God-honoring response to Halloween.

Anniversary - Today is Reformation Day—the 490th anniversary of the day Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of Wittenberg’s Schlosskirke. Praise God for men like Luther that stood for Biblical truth.
