Preach the Gospel today! (by Stephen Simpson)

I Corinthians 9:16b "For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel."

In meditating on this verse recently, I thought of some consequences of failing to preach the Gospel.

When I fail to preach the Gospel...

1. I fail to give the Gospel a voice. The Gospel will not be heard.
2. I fail to denounce sin. Preaching the Gospel brings conviction.
3. I violate my own conscience.
4. I minimize the work of Christ in my own life.
5. I am overwhelmed with shame and guilt.
6. I end up preaching a different Gospel. Often it is the Gospel of Apathy, the Gospel that says "I don't care."

Here's a practical challenge. Say this to yourself today, "Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel today."
