Missionary Update - Chris & Diane Marine

Subject: Marine email prayer update August 17, 2009

Dear Friends,

We want to thank you for your faithful prayers on our behalf even though you may be wondering where we are at the moment. We arrived back in the US the end of June. Our son Lance and his family arrived two days later and Amy and her family arrived a few days after that. This was the first time that we were able to have both of our children and their families together under one roof. We now have five grandchildren ages 5 to 8 months. What fun we had! After they all left we began the round of doctor’s visits. Physicals, blood work, dermatologist etc. We still have more appointments scheduled in the next two months.

We spent almost three weeks in the Indiana area. We enjoyed the EBM annual family enrichment conference which was held at a camp in Southern Indiana. We spent some more time with our daughter Amy and her family and were able to attend a surprise 25th wedding anniversary of some dear friends in that area.

We arrived back in Sebring Tuesday night of last week. Diane had a pre-melanoma mole removed last Thursday and is taking it easy. It will be sent off for testing to make sure the doctor got it all.

We are staying in contact with all of our missionaries both here and in their countries of service by email and telephone.
We are currently watching the political “climate” in both Niger and Mali and would appreciate your prayers for wisdom. All missionaries have left the Tombouctou region in North Mali due to terrorist activities. Thankfully all of our EBM missionaries had already left on scheduled furlough times before things got bad.
Please pray for the national believers. Pray for their safety.
Pray for wisdom to know if/when our missionaries should return.
Pray that God would use this time to strengthen the national believers and further His kingdom.
Please continue to pray for us personally. As we have said before we are very weary. We are thankful for the upcoming opportunity to spend two weeks in a cabin in North Carolina early September. We are asking God for physical and spiritual rest and refreshment.

We have a busy fall schedule meeting with some of our supporting churches. We look forward to seeing many of you then. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support on our behalf.

In Christ, Chris & Diane
